They say a man’s personality is made at school. Malabe Boys’ Model School, over the years, has gifted many great personalities into the society.

It is with this in mind that the MBMOBA was created to bring together all the past students who were educated at this prestigious institution.

History of Our School

Wp/Ja/Malabe Boys' Model School is situated in Kaduwela Division, Sri Jayawardenapura zone, Colombo District in Western Province in Sri Lanka.

It was declared open by Mr. Ranil Wicramasinghe, Minister of Education then on 28 th May 1987 Mr.W.K. Dep assumed his duties as the first principal of this school and Mr.D.Premarathna and Miss.R.D.J. Premalatha were the first two teachers in this school.

In 1991 there were classes from grade 1 to grade 5. Athulathmudali hall was built on the 01 st of May 1991 and another three storied building's construction work was started at the same period. On 28.05.1992 Rev.Porawagama Sumanasiri Thero donated the Sumanasiri hall.The first English Literary day was held on 01.12.1993 and the chief guest was Mrs. Chandrika Kumarathunge,the Minister of Education Westen Province. Mr. A.J.Ranasinghe the State Media Minister participated for the first sportsmeet on 2 nd February 1994.

In 1991, the first G.C.E(O/L) batch sat for their examination.The second three storied building was donated under the patronage of World Bank Fund.Shiroshika Society in Fukudika in Japan gave donation to build the auditorium.Mr.dep was promoted as the Director of English western Province.

Mrs.K.K.L.Sriwardena assumed duties as the principal on 19 th March 1998. Mr.H.Ratnapala begun his work as the principal of our school on the 1 st September in1999. Our school was promoted to a Maha Vidyalaya on 4 th May 2000 starting A/L classes in Commerce and Arts streams.

On the first time our school won 7 Gold Medals, 9 silver Medals, and 5 bronze Medals in Inter sportsmeet Competition held in Sri Jayawardenapura Zone. English Medium classes were started and Mr.H.Ratnapala and Miss.Chandrika Priyadarshani were honoured with Presidential awards on 26.11.2002. We won the “Suvasara Thakshalawa” award given by Ministry of Environment for being the cleanest school. Light house project was started on 28.10.2003 under the project of friendship with a school in Britain . Three storied building with computer unit was started on 02.08.2006.On 01.18.2007 we opened Malabe Boys' School ‘Kahanthota branch.

We were promoted as 1 AB School on 21.09.2007. After rendering a great service to the school, in 2008. Mrs.Diana Perumadura, a senior teacher ‘ Mrs.P.C.J. Perera the vice principal, and our principal Mr.H. Ratnapala bid farewel to our school.

In 2009 Mr.Nandasena Pathirana assumed his duties as our new principal.

About Us

Even though the old boys’ of Malabe Boys’ Model School,Malabe have physically left the school to pursue their careers, in our hearts we are still a part of the school.

With this in mind,this website was created as an attempt to bring together the many past students and to help them keep in touch with the school news, events & activities.
